Grace-Based Growth

Scope & Sequence for Compass Homeschools (Ages 3-18)

Unified 2 Peter 1:5-7 Framework

Guiding Principle:
Character growth flows from abiding in Christ, not merely effort. Each stage includes biblical truth, reflection, prayer, and action pointing back to God. The Holy Spirit plays an active role in guiding us, helping us process emotions, and strengthening us to live for Christ.

What is Grace-Based Growth (GBG)?
At Compass Homeschools, Grace-Based Growth refers to the intentional nurturing of a child’s heart, emotions, and relationships through the lens of God’s grace. It’s not about striving for perfection but about helping children grow in:

  • Character grounded in Christ

  • Emotional honesty rooted in identity

  • Relational wisdom shaped by love and truth

We believe real transformation happens from the inside out. That’s why our approach guides children—and their parents—into deeper connection with God, others, and themselves through grace, not guilt.

Unified Monthly Themes Based on 2 Peter 1:5-7
Each month, all age groups focus on the same Christ-centered trait, approached at an age-appropriate level. This brings consistency for families teaching multiple children.

Month Character Trait Grace-Based Emphasis Sept Faith Trusting God's promises and who He says we are in Christ Oct Virtue (Moral Excellence) Reflecting Christ’s goodness in our choices, empowered by grace Nov Knowledge (Gnosis & Epignōsis) Seeking truth intellectually and experientially through relationship with God Dec Self-Control Responding through the Holy Spirit, not reacting in the flesh Jan Perseverance Enduring trials with trust in God's timing and strength Feb Godliness Living with reverence as image-bearers of Christ Mar Brotherly Kindness Showing empathy and love within the family of God Apr Agape Love Demonstrating God's unconditional love in action May Review & Application Applying all traits to daily life through grace-filled practice

Summary
Compass Homeschools offers a spiritually grounded, grace-filled approach to SEL. Rather than focusing on self-improvement, we point students to Christ, helping them grow in wisdom, love, and purpose as they are transformed by the renewing of their minds (Romans 12:2).
